do i need a booster on a rear disc coversion?

Default do i need a booster on a rear disc coversion?

i was wonder can i just change the master cylinder will that just work? im get 1 from a RS wo /abs . also do i have to change the proportion valve to?

Proportioning valve needed for a rear disc swap? Yes.

Master cylinder and booster needed for a rear disc swap? No.

Not necessarily, depends on what car he has to start with. If hes already got a 40/40, he wont need to swap it.

Im told by people who have done the conversion 6+ times that even my 98 EX came with 40/40, along with the 15/16 MC.

to know for sure, look on the side of the mc it should show the 15/16 markings. BTW I've switched to rear disc and I still have my stock MC, proportioning valve, and brake booster. no issues with braking at all. I use the car for canyon & mountain runnings on a regular basis without any problems.

Yeah I've checked out the MC, I know for sure its 15/16". I didnt know a thing about Hondas before I bought this car, guess I lucked out I got the EX with the y8.

But you have a sedan, on which ABS was standard, correct? ABS Civics use a 15/16" MC. And are you sure about the proportioning valve? Have you checked the number?

EX and Si coupes had a 7/8" master cylinder, and ABS was not available.

Edit: ABS was apparently optional on the EX coupe, so the EX coupes with the optional ABS would have had the 15/16" MC too.

on these pictures, what is the advantages of running a ITR brake booster over a DX brake booster? would it be easier to step on the brake pedal with the itr booster?

reason asking is because i got lazy and put the integra master cylinder onto my stock dx brake booster, and it seems to work fine.

BTW: all 99+ integra master cylinder/brake boosters are the SAME as ITR. they will all fit onto an EK with no line or fitting modifications..

I know my EX is listed as having a 7/8" Brake booster, while the SI is listed as having a 9" booster. It will basically give the pedal a different feel, and I think make the MC work less? Im not quite sure the advantage of the larger BB, although I do have a 99 SI bb/mc sitting in my basement that I'm not sure if I need yet or not

aite thankz guy for ur input jsut in case pepz wondering i have a 95cx & i did the 5lug coversion but it jsut not braking as good as it should sink in alot more than normal

Then you'll need the larger master cylinder. The G3 Integra RS 15/16" MC will not bolt to your stock booster, because the bolt pattern is different. You'd need the Integra booster to use the Integra MC.

The '90-91 Civic EX 15/16" MC (which is what I am currently using in my CRX), the '88-89 Accord LX-i 15/16" MC, and the '90-91 Prelude Si 15/16" MC all have the same bolt pattern as your stock master cylinder, and will bolt up directly to your existing booster and work fine. You will have to tweak one the lines with the Accord and Prelude MCs because the fittings aren't angled quite right, but the Civic EX MC has the fittings angled the same as your stock MC so it is an easy and direct swap.

You'll also need to swap boosters if you want to go any larger, because all of the 1" master cylinders have a different bolt pattern.
