Default Gtech Pro RR

I lurk on this Type R message board often, mostly for nice pics and good technical writeups on mods (which are pretty rare). Anyone use the Gtech Pro RR for data logging? I have been playing with it today, and am thinking it might be helpful to gauge any possible performance improvements when making any changes to the car. I wasn't able to pull any decent HP and torque numbers for the car due to the wet roads, cold weather, and the car having snow tires on it. I think it will be fun once autox season starts up again. I also have found a program (which someone charges a $20 fee for) which takes the data from the Gtech and plots your lateral and longitudinal G forces during your road race course. The program charts other parameters stuff too. Check it out at http://www.slip-angle.com/

Does anyone have any drag race data runs they would be willing to share? I would like to chart my data against other type R's.

these things are toys, if you want accurate readings, make a trip to drag strip during spring. this way no guessing and more fun..

as for 1/4 mile times..

I had a Gtech pro, and although it was a neat little gadget, it was really difficult to calibrate on the R, since the car revs so high. The unit would also have intermittent problems with showing the right rpm. I had better luck with it on my Talon. Since the unit uses electrical noise for a signal it is not a great tool for measuring performance. I sold mine.

I use to play around with a GTECH a good bit. If you had the thing calibrated exactly it would nail my ET's right on the spot. The only thing that was a little off was trap speed but it actually gives your true 1/4mi trap instead of an average of the last 60ft like a real track. The way it works is simple physics.
