00 Civic Si b16a When I'm either driving or parked there is a noise coming out of my engine. It seems that it has to do with my clutch because as soon as I even tap the clutch, I do not have to push it in all the way, the noise stopps. Sort of sounds like a chirping noise. Not too loud but if you are quiet you can hear it. Clutch itself gripps ok and it is still stock. Anybody had a similar problem? I am planning on changing the clutch anyway so if that is the problem then I do not care. Hopefully it has nothing to do with the engine itself.

Hmm...well thanks for that link...looks like it is the throwout bearing...I am experiancing the same problems as the other.

 

when u get a clutch kit, itll come with the pressure plate, clutch disk, tob, and pb. so you'll be in good shape then

I am trying to figure out what the best flywheel is. I keep hearing a different story from everybody, probably the same case on here. I race my car, so I heard that getting a light flywheel would be bad since the RPM's would drop waaayyy too quick as you are shifting and then they would have to go back up so you would loose time.
I heard a 11lbs would be good since the stock is about 20lbs. Is that true? Kind of makes sense. I would preferably like an answer from somebody who knows a lot about it and actually had his/her flywheel swapped.

Sounds like the throw out bearing, buy a clutch kit.

Hehe, yeah thats exactly it!! Recently my friend talked me into taking my AC and Power Steering belt off...so I did...pulls a lil faster and now I can hear kind of rubbing, more like you know when you have your stock exhaust on and you can hear the muffler hissing when you punch it (especially if lets say someone is right next to you and you can hear the smoke coming out of his muffler), well I can kind of hear that coming out of my engine now. Just first gear, higher RPM's. I do have stuff done to it but I do not think that that's it. Has to be the damn clutch, throwout bearing. We'll see what happens when I change it, including the flywheel.
