Default 14b turbo question

I'm installing a turbo klit on my civic and was wondering if there is a way to lower the boost of the 14b (td05h) turbo with the internal wastegate. Did search the net and found that the wastegate arm can be modded, but don't say how.

You cant really lower it any more than the lowest setting the spring is at. Modding the wastegate arm is typically done to increase boost. How low of a boost do you wan to run? 14b's are usually between 8-10psi depending.

I want to drop the boost to about 4psi, at first to make sure the motor can handle it.

You could always go with an external gate and get something like a 3-4psi spring. What motor, how many miles, any issues with the motor now? If its a fairly good conditoned a6 motor i'd say run some seafoam through it and get rid of some of that carbon buildup and then do some moderate fuel upgrades a pump and a fmu at the least, or afc hack, or hondata if your not on a tight budget. As for timing pull some timing at the dizzy if you don't have igniton control, or get a msd with boost retard, or hondata option again. With the bare minimum for fuel and timing 8 psi from the stock internal gate shouldn't be a problem. It won't run with peak performance, but it should be safe. my two cents..

As for modding the wastegate arm i'm pretty sure its simply cutting it at the straight point and re-welding it shorter to allow for less boost.
