Do you have a boost controller hooked up to it? Check the routing of your vacuum lines. How much does it spike?

If your engine management has a boost control feature, then make sure you have it a couple PSI higher than your spring, boost creep is very possible and even the slightest elevation above your boost control setting will cause you ignition/fuel to shut down, making you think you spiked higher than you did.

Just look at your boost gauge and see if it spikes... Boost spike is possible with any turbo setup if there is something not up to par (old wastegate, leaky diaphragm, poor wastegate location, poor vacuum routing, mismatched turbo, etc.. and the list goes on)...

Alright to answer your question. If your waste gate has a leak it will cause some boost spike. To fix that do a pressure test on your waste gate.

Just to clarify your talking about the turbo over boosting the target PSI at intial spool up? Not creeping past ~15 PSI as RPM's increase.

Is the turbo "small" or "large" in relation to the engine? Boost creep is generally something not able to track the boost pressure fast enough. This can be from a turbo that spools up too quick (small for the engine), or from a wastgate and/or boost controller that doesn't actuate fast enough, or a connection causing a delay in the signal.

Brandon how much are you spiking?

Perhaps wastegate placement on the turbo manifold could be causing it.
