Default "Check Engine light"

my check engine light came out about 2 weeks ago..i went to autozone..and used there ODB2 check engine thingie....

i fixed the problem... the vacuume line from the cold air intake to the valve cover was loose...but the engine light is still one....

the guy that works at Autozone told me..after u fixed the problem disconnect the battery or somthing like that for a certain amount of min to reset the ecu...

so i disconnected the battery for about 2 mins connected it back and turned on the car...the check engine light went away for about 2 days later it came back on...

im pretty sure i fixed the problem....but im not to sure about reseting the ecu crap

plz Help

If the CEL code came back, you didn't fix the problem.

My CEL comes on from time to time but it's just an EVAP code. Tighten your fuel cap, disconnect the battery(doesn't matter for how long), hook it back up and let her rip. My $.02.

Which EVAP code are you getting? There are different ones...one pertains to the EVAP system itself, and one pertains to the gas cap.

If you have any kind of aftermarket stereo/amps, especially with a 1 farad capacitor or something, you'll probably need to leave it off for 10 minutes, or turn the key ignition ON while disconnected, turn your lights on with the batt disconnected, or just tap the + cable to ground while it's disconnected (you may get a spark.)

With a 1 farad capacitor, it can drive a couple dozen milliamps to your ECU and alarm for a minute or so.

In the fuse panel right near the battery under the hood you will find a 7.5 amp radio fuse, pull that out for about 30 seconds and viola. You will need to re set all your radio stations but who cares.
