It wont do anything because there's no filter. Sure, the can will get nice and oily, but your intake manifold/throttle body etc will still get dirty and you'll still be burning trace amounts of oil. Buy some of that clear braided hose from home depot. You'll notice that the hose leading away from that can will quickly turn yellowish orange. That's how I know the majority of DIY catch cans dont work. If it worked, obviously the hose leading into the can would quickly get dirty but the hose leading away would stay clean.

The best kind of catch can would have an inlet at the bottom, and an outlet at the top, with a very thick yet breathable filter media. That way the oil stays at the bottom and drains back into the valve cover, and the air is forced through the media. The outlet will lead back to the intake pipe before the throttle body or to the intake manifold, depending on which you're filtering. It should be clear so you can see the media, and it should be easy to disassemble so you can change the filter element. It should also be somewhat resistant to heat.

 

If you have the money just buy an Endyn or Moroso can.

If you're lazy, broke, and don't care about emissions you could just remove the PCV valve and route the hose out of or underneath the car and put a filter on the valve cover.

how do i remove the pcv valve? can u show me in a picture? so after removing it, just add a hose and aim it strait down out of the car?

It depends on what type of vehicle you have. On my D16Y8 the PCV is on the back of the block inline with the block box (oil seperator) and hose.

 

i have an h22a4 swap, can you post up a pic, even though its a diff motor it'll still look the same just be in a diff location right? i just want something to go buy.

 

for d16z6, do you have to buy a new pvc fitting?(i attached a pic of it) or can you just use the stock pvc fitting and and stick the hose on there?
