Your input on this setup
FOR OFF-ROAD PURPOSE,
Instead of using an oil catch, can't we just connect a hose from the PCV valve to behind the splashguard or anywhere underneath the car? So, all the blow-by gas just won't circulate back into the manifold? Someone educate me here. thanks.

Re: Your input on this setup (sgT)
yes, I understand the function of that filter, but why can't we just hook up a hose to the pcv and just leave the hose hanging somewhere and facing downwards and let the blow-by gas escape that way? Then we can even omit the use of the filter and the draining oil process, am I right?

So let me get this straight... you would like to dump your excess oil blow-by directly onto the track?
Doesn't James Bond do this with his car?

Dont you need the vacum from the intake manifold to keep the pvc valve open. Otherwise nothing would come out, with no suction.

Andrew, I thought those are vapor, and the density is not high enough that it will dipping oil on the road. For sure I will not want my car to dip anything when I was driving if that's the case.
As for the vacuum, my understanding is that the blow-by is fed back to the intake manifold by the crank pressure.

Assisted by a positive pressure from the air intake before the throttle body to the top of the valve cover via that hose system.

So, correct me if I am wrong. It is not assisted by the suction from intake manifold. Only from the positive air going into the valve cover.

positive air going to the valve cover doesnt do much unless you have sufficient
crank case ventilation and vacuum from the intake manifold.
As someone stated before, if you just hang the line somewhere, you will be dropping
oil around everywhere. and that isnt very smart.
