Default d16y5 to d16y7?

I did'nt know where to put this...I've searched the site and could'nt find anything on this. I've got a d16y5 (hx) and im going to turbo it. I've been looking on here and turbod16.com but hav'nt found much, maybe im not looking hard enough? I was thinking instead of by passing the vtec-e just doing away with the vtec all together and running the y7 head, could that be done? y5 has 115hp y7 105 so im not losing that much, im turboing it anyway, just dont want to mess with that vtec-e! So im guessing the main question is, can I put the y7 head on and not have vtec?

What is there to mess with vtec?

You shouldn't be attepting to turbo you car until you research more, IMO.

nooooooooooooo! keep the y5 head. if you want, port the head a little bit, but not needed. once you get the stupid cat off the header and force some air through the motor it will be nice. the ONLY downfall i can think of is that you need to run the hx ecu. run low boost if you u dont have a way to retard timing. the d16y5 is an overlooked motor, and no where near worth getting rid of to run a y7 head. trust me, i have an hx

So my car is a 98 civic hx I was wondering what was the difference between the y7 and y5 block and if I could just throw on a y5 head on a y7 block with no problems still running vtec and everything
