Hrmm...SFI damper install with the engine in the car?
I dunno how this is possible, but I'm just wondering if anyone has done it.
I have a B18C1 in my CRX, that I need to get a SFI damper onto. Problem is that the motors already in the car, and there is very little room to work with.
Any idea how I can remove the pully without pulling the motor?
Thanks,
B-rad.

Any idea how I can break that ever elusive crank bolt loose?
I havn't personally seen it done with the motor in the car before...
</TD></TR></TABLE>go to http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net look for this part # SP 60100 cost is only $40. why pay for a impact gun and possibly a air tank just to remove the pulley bolt.

NICE...........kinda funny when you think that a simple air tool can produce more torque than our cars..........

It's even easier if you use this trick:
Get a breaker bar with the appropriate impact socket attached, place it on the crank pulley and place it in contact with a solid suspension piece. Now bump the starter a couple times and it'll crack loose. It's perfectly safe and I've done it many times. Old hotrodder trick

lol I remember that trick, only problem is most people will some how some way screw that up. I think it would be safer for the temid people to just use the pulley tool. BTW that trick would've been my last resort if I didn't by accidently found that $40 honda pulley tool.

Cranking the engine while holding the bolt would tighten it and shear off the head...
Our engines rotate counterclockwise and if you keep the bolt stationary and crank it, its gonna turn it the wrong way...
think about it, old hot rods yes ,most honda motors-no...

remove the stater wedge a big screwdriver in the teeth of the flywheel and then loosen the pulley bolt, doesnt seem like its on there that tight to me, maybe its the spinach.
you need another person to hold the screwdriver of course. way less than 40 bucks.

are you refering to placing a wrench on the crank bolt, and turning the starter?
no matter where u put the wrench, the starter is still going to crank the engine CCW , so you will be tightening the bolt

You cant do it on a B series(and D), But since most every other engine and the new K series engines rotate clockwise, he prolly was thinking about that...
Just get an impact wrench. That should take care of it. Ive only seen one engine where one wasnt strong enough. I think honda put Locktite on it as a joke or something...
Like they said above, Try and remove the D. side mount and possibly the front to get enough room for the dampener...good luck
