Adding a crank fluxuation sensor onto a OBD1 block
Alright, due to emissions requirements in my state I must convert my car back to OBD1. I'll start off by telling you whats done to the car. I have a 97 civic and I swapped in a OBD1 B16A2. During the swap I wasn't worried about running OBD2 so I used a conversion harness and ran the supplied OBD1 ECU.
Now comes time to get my emissions all settled so I need to convert back to OBD2. I've searched and found that I would first need to install a oil pump on the block that has the mounting points and crank fluxuation sensor already installed. This is fine but what some people say is that the cranks have a special disk the crank fluxuation sensor reads off of. I was wondering if this was true or not.
If anyone has ever installed an oil pump with a crank fluxuation sensor on it, please reply. Thanks

i have an obd2 gsr block in my car...i dont think you need to get the whole oil pump because that sensor is just bolted on...so all you need is the crank sensor...but if you have an obd1 harness, it wont plug up because it wont have the right plug for the crank sensor...
anybody correct me if i'm wrong.

Nope the oil pump has special holes that secure the crank fluxuation sensor and the OBD1 pumps do not have these holes to secure the sensor and it also will not fit (jerry rig wise).
I'm also running the stock OBD2 harness that came with the civic. So I already have the CFS plug attached and ready to go.

That should answer the question about the "special disk" that you had. It's that gear looking piece on the end of the crank, right underneath the accessory pully.

Nope, the CKF will not be able to bolt onto an OBD1 oil pump. Your best bet is to purchase an OBD2 pump and put that into the OBD1 block.
