error code 8 and 54
code 54 is crank speed fluctuation, and 8 is tdc sensor.
has anyone thrown these codes and know how to fix them, i need to know pretty soon, thanks.
ps. just got done building the motor, all this happened on the first crank up. had a problem with the head gasket sealing, i will have to replace that tues. (sprayed out oil all around the head). the head and ecu and all sensors are b16a2 with an obd2 ecu. the block is an obd1 block. i took the oil pump off my obd2 block and put it on the obd1 block so it would have a ckf sensor (the one that is like mounted to the oil pump houseing). was that not the right thing to do, or is there not a pulser rotor on the crankshaft of an obd1 crank to send a signal to the sensor?

you need to swap everything over. the oil pump, the crank sprocket and the ckf sensor. i have converted a couple of JDM obd1 engines to obd2 for delaware emissions. but if you didnt swap oner the crank sprocket, you need to.

i put the oil pump from my obd2 motor on it, so that took the ckf sensor with it, so i swapped those, so it has my obd2 sensor on and oil pump on it. but what exactly is the crack sprocket? are you talking about the the gear that the timing belt runs on to turn the crank, and if so why would that need to be replaced?

yes it has an exciter ring on it, teeth looking things, thats how the ckf sensor sends a signal to the ecu. moving metal in front of a magnetic field will produce an electrical current. but thats beside the point. yes it is the thing the timming belt rides on and you do need it.

****, thanks though. now i got to put the obd2 sprocket on there. thanks, is the magnetic part of the sprocket visible, i mean can you see the difference in the spockets?

do you think that will aslo fix code 8, and with the sprocket and my oil pump i wont need any conversion harnesses or anything? god dude your great, which on is which, cause i believe i have 12 on there

not 100% sure if it will cure the #8 code, but it is a very good place to start. you shouldnt need a conversion harness.

the pic here is actually backwards. the teeth should be on the oil pump side, and under the ckf sensor. without it in front of me i cant say if it is correct or not. but i am hitting the bed. i hope i helped out.
