I think that's a fast idle valve. I think you can just bypass it. It's used for cold starts.

Your motor will want to bog out in cold starts, the fast idle thermal valve (FITV)
allows more air in. I don't have mine on my ctr i/m, and on cold *** mornings i have to allow the engine to warm up alittle more than normal. I will be switching to my 95 gsr t/b soon, because it has the FITV on it t/b itself unlike 1st gen t/b.

you dont need it, specially if you have a chipped ecu. uberdata allows you to mess with your cold idle so you woudnt need the valve.

try it without it. if it works out great then leave it alone, if you dont like it then put it back on

you don't need it.. ITRs and CTRs don't have them, just the coolant hose passes through rite to the IAC valve..

coming from someone who lives in cali^^^

you do need it for cold starts. It's the IAC valve.

Not so sure about that. My ITR engine came with it on the intake manifold..Wouldn't want to do without it as it gets damn cold here

I installed the victor X manifold on my CRX VT and did'n use the fast idle valve.
But I live in the carribbean.
When I had my stock B16A1 intakemanifold my cold start idle was about 2k and dropped pretty fast to 1,5k rpm
But now my cold idle start is about 1,5k rpm right away.

thats not the iac valve its a fast idle valve the iac valve bolts up to the back of the intake manifold, i dont have the fast idle valve as well and i dont have a problem at all, and i live in jersey

we just had a bad cold front out here and it didnt give me no problems just let the car warm up which you should be doing anyway

I can't believe how many of you mix up FITV and IACV.

My AEBS manifold doesn't have provisions to use a FITV and so far, I haven't missed it.

Same function, to allow extra air into the intake manifold. But different methods and reasons. One is controlled by the ecu, the other is controlled by the coolant temp. The ecu is depending on the FITV to give a little extra air when it's cold, so it is giving more fuel. When that air isn't there, the motor will bog for a while until the coolant temp gets above the point where the FITV would be open, and the ecu stops adding fuel to compensate.

You don't need it, but you will need to keep it bolted up so not to have a massive vacuum leak. Unless you have a tb that does not let you bolt it up to it.

Edelbrock throttle bodies have a block off plate so this doesn't occur.
