Default Help: starter problems

I have a 96' integra and I'm having problems with my starter. I just installed a new starter and it still won't turn over. When I try to start it, it makes that "starting sound" but doesn't turn all the way. What is the problem?

Describe that 'starting sound' a little better. It almost sounds like the starter is OK but the engine won't fire.

All the starter's supposed to do is spin the engine. If your old starter did that, it wasn't bad in the first place. Your problem was elsewhere. Got fuel? Got spark?

It makes that "starting sound" like when you turn the key it sounds like it is about to start but the engine doesn't fire up. I don't know whats wrong. I have a new optima battery too, so I know for sure it's not the battery. I don't know what it could be. Anymore thoughts?

Gotta start to narrow it down. Turn the key ON, but not all the way to START. Does the alternator & oil idiotlights come on? What about the check-engine light?

Do you know how to check for spark? Check for fuel?

You also might have corrosion in your main relay. I jumped my buddie's starter by connecting the positive end with the negative end with a wire while he turned the key. It worked for some reason. His car starts up just fine now.

My car has been sitting for about 2 months. There are no check engine lights that light up. I also installed new spark plugs and still no go. I'm going to check fuel injectors, might be ecu. Anymore suggetions would help, need to start ASAP. Again, thanks a lot for replying.

Try to change your main ignition relay. Try to find someone with the same car and try to swap them out. I'm pretty sure that's what it could be.
