Default To keep the car or not...

So this is the final word(and post).. Insurance Found somewhere in Virginia to buy the car for $5200. If I choose to keep the car I get 6400 back and get to keep the car. Is it worth it to buy it back , Imean, can I make more than that if I part it out. All the Glasss is good -DR window, interior , engine, airbags, suspension.ect..
No vultures are allowed to answer because I know what you all want me to do with it

Wow...thats a touch decision dood, they are really shafting you and its a shame to see that. At this point i think i would keep it, take what you want and scrap the rest. You'll never get it the way it was so you had mise well rip out whats worth some $$$$ try and make back what you more or less bought it for and start over. You could always buy a hatch for dirty cheap and make a bad-*** track cah with what you have left

Edit....to answer the direct question at hand, i think you can easily end up in the black on this one.....BUY IT BACK

I say keep it and part it out. I mean if the engine and interior are in tip-top shape, you can probably get more than $5200 for those alone.

Your time is worth money too. If you have plenty of free time to part the car out and sit on the parts then buy it back. Personally, I'd probably have to let mine go in your situation and look at something else. I wouldn't mind having an EF or EG with ITR everything on it but I'd much rarther put $12k down on a new STi or Evo MR. It's up to you...sorry about your loss.

i think that they are givving you too little for the car and then selling it to you for too much.

what you might want to do also is, try and lower the estimate to fix the car. say if they will total it for more than 10k to fix the car, find a bodyshop that will write an estimate for $9000, tell them they can keep $1000 for the trouble. if its less to fix then they should not total it. but i think that the adjuster knows they can get top dollar at the auctions, and thats why they are so quick to total Rs and your buy back is so much.

Agreed. Time is of the essence. If you have the time and the dedication, then go for it. Otherwise, give up the fight and render this a lost cause.

i agree. the time to travel down there, bring it back, removing parts, shipping them, etc. is not worth in my opinion. there will certainly be cost involved in getting to the car and returning to where you live also right?
