how isnt the sc61 hot? t3 based, spools pretty decent, and has been proven to make some serious power.

Best junkyard/ex-OEM unit: Holset HX35

Best bling unit: misc Garret GTblahblahblahR

Most interesting in my mind atm, but kind of oddball: split tang Evo 8 turbo, with the correct manifold. They support over 400 hp.

Avoid anything Mase recommends...

Crafting modern, efficient compressors onto stone age T3 bearing housings and hot sides? Or maybe you're talking about something a little differenct than I am... when someone says Precision I think the SCxx, some of which have Garrett GT compressors. If there's a Precision GT series I'm unaware of it... I don't pay much attention to most of the aftermarket, unless it's everywhere and I keep tripping over it - SC61 is a perfect example.

ya there is a difference , which i didnt know untill i started ordering flanges and ****. i have a precision gt series which according to stan at fast-turbo is a better casting . the sizes of the flanges are different than the garret . i ordered a garret gt series oil return flange and it was the wrong size . but i cant get technical with the differences because i just dont know

I guess if you really wanted to move up from a sc61, people seem to be doing PT67, which is madness

I think the SC61 is the turbo for me a couple of friends have them one on a street car ad one on a race car and i like the spool time and the power there making. There up in the 500hp range no problem. I was just wondering if there was something new out there.

whats a pt67

T3/T67 but none have been a on car runnin enough boost so see how they hold up daily driven at 400whp or so....also I am sure the lag is rediculous with this turbo.....GT30R is the way to go for a 500hp car....also GT35R just made 667whp on dynoflashes evo with no bottle

The t3/t67 is pretty tight, it spools decently quick even on the old b16 but, if your looking for a great street and track turbo the sc61 is hands down the best choice.
For the money, reliability, quality of product and performance out of it its the best choice you could make.

A friend of mine recently tried one of those out on a LS. For such a huge looking thing, it spooled nicely. Never got the chance to dyno it, but the *** dyno said serious TQ production began at 4500ish, and carried well for an LS.
On 15-17psi in an EG it only lost by a few cars to my CRX SC61'd B16 on 14psi.
For the $$$ and a HMT setup, they are a solid choice IMHO.

I've seen 300 whp on a notorously low reading mustang dyno @ 12 psi... on an unported LS head w/ regrinds.

Hot side isn't that large on the HX35... while the compressor supports 60 lb/hr of air, and the efficiency is wonderful, I think the big power guys would be better off with something else as the turbine would start to strangle the engine at peak power production. Or else they could trade the 12 cm^2 turbine for a 14 or 16

Nice street turbo, though.

Primarily Cummins B5.9's with manual transmission, like in the Dodge duallys.

Smaller displacement guys like you SOHC turbo ninjas should shoot for the HY35 off the automagics; they got a smaller 9 cm^2 turbine, and are virtually unwanted on eBay.

The HX3x series have T3 flanges, fwiw.

for a nice spool all round turbo= Gt35e

for some great power for high reving engines= t3/t67

I have no idea why so many people say the T67 has a slow spool mine spools fairly well considering I have yet to really get on it, my car is not tuned and I'm only pushing around 7 pounds.
