Does anyone use GT series turbos?
Just wondering if anyone in the honda world tried using GT series turbos? I have heard of some impressive numbers with these turbos on other cars such as MR2's, and 240's. These turbos are dual ball bearing, and some say that they are considered disposable turbos since they are supposedly a B***h to rebuild. These turbos are pricey as hell. Basically i want to know if anyone here on this forum is using it and what kind of numbers are you pushing out?

VaporTrail on here is a dealer for them and had a GB awhile back. He dynoed an SR20DET with this turbo and posted some #s. I was buying one from him but $ became REAL TIGHT still paying off my project now. Also the new Turbo magazine has a test of it on a Galant 4G63 AWD and from the old T3/T4 made 10.9hp and 29.6 ft-lb torque gain. This was at 19psi to 19psi. they showed improvements from a ported head and Intake Manifold also, then before and after turbo swap being the only change. However they never that I can recall mentioned the old T3/T4 turbos specs ie turbine A/R or wheel trim or even compressor trim, may have in a previous installment since this is part 6. But by the dyno chart it did make more power throughout the power band. I did the compressor maps for this and it seemed to be too small for my set up actually by the maps the GT35 would've worked out better. Sounds strange but i mapped them. If I'm wrong then me . Me and John talked when I was ordering and I was getting a 56 trim compressor and .82 A/R turbine which he felt was too big but my T3/60-1 is even bigger on each side granted the GT BB would've been maybe more efficient or spooled quicker. I would love to test the 2 also and get definative answers.

Aalso to ad a buddy of mine Greaser has an SR20DET with an HKS GT3037s and has made 457whp with 20psi, lots of engine work and intake manifold etc etc. He's always been pleased with his turbo never a complaint and was ecstatic when i was buying a GT30 but gave me the big when I bought my T3/60-1. Oh well to each his own.... when $$$ is an issue.

OK I went and dug up the Sep '02 issue of Turbo when they first installed the T3/T4, them bastards didn't give any specs of the turbo except it's a Garret hybrid T3/T4 They did however show power as 355hp with 15psi where the old 16G needed 19psi then 378hp with 18psi 391.7 fr-lb where before 16G 371.5 tq. Too bad they didn't get more technical on the specs. Just trying to show power figures from a T3/T4 to a GT Series sorry.
