motor with bent rods, crank still good to use
okay..just bought a b18b for cheap, cause it had a bent rod.going to rebuild it anyways...okay the guy told me that it had a bent rod..and i was like..no problems, going to rebuild anyways..i bought..brought it home..took the thing apart and now im just waiting on parts to arrive..i then talk to a local guy about it and dude say that a motor with a bent rod or spun a bearing the crank will be no good..but i look at the crank and it seems fine..so..will hte crank be useable in my build..thanks..
If the crank is damaged, it might not be able to be repaired. The machine shop I dropped my block off at said they haven't had too much luck fixing honda cranks. Is the bearing journal damaged at all, or what? Did the rod bearing spin? If the bearings never touched, then the crank is fine. If the bearing spun, but the crank looks ok, have a machine shop check it out to make sure it's in round and all that fun stuff.
If it's really not scratched, I'd run it. Make sure there's no little burrs or anything. Run your finger all around every journal.

exactly. you won't know until they check it..if you decide to simply run it you might end up further in the hole money wise...

Thats why my ITR block is getting looked through and honed. Destroyed rod bearing on cylinder 1, crank looks fine, just a little burr. But the blowby on the piston made me want to make this motor brand new.

well..i just took a long look at it and there seems to be no scratches or deep gouges ..seems fine..might do ahead and use it..
