fookin auto tranny...
93 EX coupe, stock as hell besides a custom catback exhaust and a K&N filter, 160k miles
been having this problem for a few months, nothing was done to the car to cause a change. when i put the transmission in any of the forward drive gears or into reverse the engine bogs down to 200-300 rpm and almost stalls out. put it back into park or neutral and the idle goes right back up to about 1200 rpm then settles down into 700-800 rpm right away like normal. once the transmission has been driven a few miles the problem goes away, i am assuming because the AT fluid has warmed up, but until then i have to put it into neutral at stoplights. i can slow to a stop and nothing happens but as soon as i stop completely (wheels stop moving) it bogs down to 300 rpm.
did a search and the closest thing i could find was peeps saying vac leak from the brake booster, but applying the brakes is not what bogs the engine, its putting it into gear that does it, so i am not sure about that.
what i have done since it started:
spark plugs, gaps checked
valves, a bit on the tight side, in park it idles a bit "lumpy" but doing them tight this time really helped make the motor feel less "tired"
tranny fluid, full flush
any ideas where to go from here? i dont know much about auto transmissions and dont know what to check next. if it is something that the transmission needs to come off for, i am just gonna do a manual conversion, i hate hondas auto trannies. i know peeps are gonna say just trade it for a manual, but we have babied this car for over 100k miles and there is no way i am gonna trade it for a car i dont know the history on.
thanks for any help!
