is it bad to have my BOV vacuum hooked to my compressor nipple!
the intake manifold is always the best place to hook stuff like that up to. Pressure usually drops when air goes through the intercooler so its not a good reading because its before the intercooler.
Well you want the BOV to be hooked to your intake since when you let off the gas there will be a drop in pressure in it and it will help to pull the BOV open along with the boost pushing the BOV open..
hook it up to the intake manifold cause the valve needs vac. to open and there isnt any vac at the turbo.

Yes.. I will still kinda open if its not hooked up but for sure its not going to work at all if its hooked to the fitting on the compressor housing..

the port on the compressor is for the wastegate tie off of the line that you would hook your boost gauge up to.

the purpose of the blow off valve or a by-pass valve is to bleed or recirculate excess pressure when ur throttle plate closes, so that it doesnt back up to the compressor, which is bad obviously. and it'll work only if the line is tapped after the throttle body, so that it'll sense vaccum (like 5.0killa said) once the throttle plate closes. so it doesnt do any good if its hooked to your compressor.
i would recommed teeing off of the fpr.

interesting... that may explain why my BOV is making a "ch ch ch ch ch" sounds instead of a "psssssssh" sound.
But its still opening to some degree right? i havent blown my turbo have i? is running without a fully functioning BOV really bad?

Well its opening because the pressure of the intake plumbing skyrockets once the TB is snapped shut forcing the valve to open. It is deifinetly bad for the turbo, but just change it ASAP.

Its defintely a possibility, but normally leaking oil seals are due to an inadaquate drain line.

crap. i bet i did mess my turbo up. my drain is perfect, can't be the reason. But how is that any different than simply having a BOV made for more boost?

i mean, if it was just putting a lot of stress on the turbo causing it to leak, would the oil leak now go away if i take that stress away? or am i screwed?
depends on the level of damage caused. Who knows what kind of boost pressure its being slammed into when your TB closes. Incredibly hard on the compressor itself. If the seals are blown, they will not reseal. If the damage is minimal...u may get away with it

gar, i guess i'm just super worried right now. the turbo still spins great, almost no shaft play, so even if the leak continues i'll just deal with it for a while.
on a side note, is tehre any good place to JUST get the oil seals?

Some BOVs will make that sound under low boost because they have a high tension spring(the Tial for example).
