Compressor surge with BOV
I just installed a TurboXS RFL bov in my charge pipe between the intercooler and tb, but I'm not getting any blow-off from it, it just seems to surge from the turbo, just like when I didn't have a bov. I have the vacuum line hooked up to the back of the manifold with it's own like(no tees). Also I didn't put any washers in the bov. Could it be because I'm only running 7psi of boost?
btw, I did check the bov with vacuum and the piston does move easily upward with vacuum and harder to move with no vaccuum.

Re: Compressor surge with BOV (turtle-eg)
On my TXS type S, I smear a little bit of grease around the cylinder when I do oil changes, helps it open up...it doesn't seem to like to open without it.

Re: Compressor surge with BOV (scatuli)
Compressor surge is when the throlle plate closes and it sends a surge (wave) back towards the turbo. If this surge isn't intercepted by a blow off valve it can cause the turbo to spin backwards and put extra strain on the bearings of the turbo. Basically it's not good for the turbo or performance
