Default Are there any other ways to check this????????? help

my bro's 99 SI's check engine light came on and i dont have a scan tool to check the code is there another way i can get the code by doing something to make the light blink the code???? i heard you can but how ??? please help

pull the floor panel out of the passengers side of the car (piece of plastic) near the right foot. you will see the ECU right there. take ecu out, no need to unplug it. if you look around, maybe above in the dash a blue plug will be clipped into a green rubber piece that attaches to a bracket up there.

once you find it, take a metal paper clip and unbend it. place both ends of paperclip in the 2 slots provided. once they are secure, turn the key 2 clicks to the "on" position. watch the check engine light. it will blink numerous times.

1 long blink=10, 1 short blink =1

so 3 long blinks and 4 short blinks = code #34
