How to check the code ?
I always hear how guys say their ECU is throwing code #34...etc...
Just wondering, how do you check that?
Another thing, my check Engine light came on, so the very first thing I did was check my cas cap, because I remember I read aboout that in the owners manual. And it did turn out to be lose, so I tightened it. It says in the manual it will take 3 trips for the light to turn off. It only happened today, and I've made about 5-6 trips already and the light is still on.
Any input is great. ty.

there is a pretty simple way to do it. If you open up the passenger side console kick panel, there should be 2 connectors. The smaller blue one is the one you want to use. The blue connector should have to pins inside. Short them with a wire or paper clip then turn the car to the on position (you don't have to crank the engine). The check engine light will them flash a sequence of codes. To read it, one long flash is 10 and a short flash is 1. So if you get 2 long and 1 short, the code is 21.
sit in ur passenger seat.. reach for the carpeting part... and anywhere where ur finger can get a grip.. (not the carpeting of course) rip as hard as u can.. should pop right off.. thats how i found mine! follow this map
5th gen
open pass door
sit in pass seat
put on seat belt
reach into the far front LEFT corner below the glove compartment..
when ur hand is in the corner, start feeling on the left and work ur way back toward seat with ur hand
discover a panel that pops off
find a BLUE plug
pull blue plug out
get wire w/ exposed conductor (copper)
plug each copper end to each hole.
make sure they are connected
jack off
put key into ignition and turn it to where only electricals are on.
4th gen ( I THINK?)
driver side
front right corner?
