Default **Bypassing my turbo question**

Here's the deal:

The turbo install on my Accord is fully complete, however it is going to be a week or so until my tuner can tune my car. I'm running hondata, and currently have a stock accord base map on the car. I need to drive my car in the mean time a little bit while i'm waiting to have it tuned next week, so what would be the best way to bypass the turbo for a few days so I don't have to drive the car boosted with an untuned motor? Do I simply just leave the wastegate open?

yes yu can leave the wastegate open so yu don't build boost, or you can just drive smoothly and easy without building boost

Internal WG: Unhook the acutator arm.

External WG: Remove spring.

It's external yes, thanks bro!!! I heard I could just leave the WG open, however wasn't sure if it was a safe thing to do, for the motor's sake.

You mean an open dump? Or remove the WG altogether? Either way, it's gonna be loud and dirty and smelly!

Remove the spring so the exhaust gas circulates back into the exhaust. It won't harm the motor at all really...there's no boost!

No no, I meant I wasn't sure if I could leave the spring out thus leaving the WG open, so no boost would build. Just wasn't sure if there was any harm in that or not. Thanks for confirming my doubts, I really appreciate it.

Just run the motor normally and sensibly. IT won't hurt it, it will just run like its not on boost anyway, if you don't get on it that is. No need to open the wastegate.

Better safe than sorry. I wouldn't trust a basemap as far as I can throw it.

Thank you, seems sensible to me.

This is not a good idea if you want your turbo to live. With no resistance the turbo will overspool very easily and will cause premature bearing wear and/or catostrophic failure of the turbine(**** will throw chunks of wheel everywhere).
