Default forcing a wastegate open?

I'm looking to tune my car for daily driving without boost, how can I lock the wastegate open so the turbo doesn't spool? and would this be bad for the turbo (over revving?)

I have a Tial 40mm wastegate, and a Blitz DSBC boost controller.

Why would you want to tuen your car w/o boost if you're turbo?

uh.... put in a really small spring.. and leave your boost controller off..

but we all know you wont "leave it off" because, common your not bullshitting us... your gonna run it on the most psi you think is safe...

I was there with you like so many before you... I won't run that much boost unless i'm racing....

1.5 years later my EBC is STILL set on 10psi....

hahahahahahahahahaahahahhahaha

the reason i want to tune it this way is because a friend drove my car that has a 2000 civic w/ i/h/e and his car responds alot better in daily driving.. ive been on the dyno for a bunch of hours tuning the top end (14psi) and now i'm trying to tune the midrange.

You asked what to do with the exhaust...well whether you took the wastegate off used a smaller spring(it would still boost) or proped it open somehow...your still gonna have open exhaust. Thats all a wastegate does, regulates exhaust. Thats why there is no real answer unless you have a dump tube that goes back into exhaust piping.

If you force the wastegate open, the exaust energy bypasses the turbo and the turbo doesnt spin as fast.. if you tune it that way and run the wastegate normally, you will run VERY lean and will buck and be very hard to maintain a constant speed.

You should just tune the mid range while driving the car
