tie rodsssssss
my car went smacking into a curb recently =x i popped my tire (didn't bend the rim how i don't know) my brake rotor broke in half...(i don't know how that happened either ;x) and everything else seemed fine...i changed both rotors and when i started to drive the car it sqealllled like a motherf*Cker like there was something pressed on it...i jacked the car up and noticed the balljoin was slammed into the rotor ... so i took off the calipers rotor and seperated the ball joint and put it ack in ...it straightened out and the noise went away...my car steers to the right...like no tomorrow and when i hit a bump it makes a scraping noise and a big thump...and when i go over water i lose control easy...i looked at my tie rods and noticed i ripped the boot in half...i went to autozone to get a new tie rod thinking its 1 peice...then they asked me outer or inner..and i was like uhhhhh i don't know ;x so now my question to u guys is...which one would be the wiiner? i was thinking the one with the boot on it..is that the inner? if u guys have anymore info that could help me out that would be great...thank you!!
**EDIT**
I forgot to say that my wheel wobbles when i drive and it also has alot of playing when i shake it left to right..which indicated tie rods correct?

scraping noises and big thumps, steering to the right like no tomorrow, wobbling... I'll tell you that all of that can't be caused by a tie rod unless it's just dangling.
1. park car and straighten wheel.
2. jack up entire front end and remove wheels
3. compare side to side, what's different, what isn't... take pics etc.
I find it very hard to believe that you hit a curb hard enough to somehow break a rotor in half, bend and break a bunch of other stuff and you didn't bend a rim. get under the car and shake the **** out of things. if it moves/wabbles/thumps out of the ordinary then there's your problem. If you're just gonna start replacing parts you'd be better off taking the car to the stealership.

you want the outer tie rod, just ask him to pull the part so you can see for your self. if you have play up and down or left to right it's usually a wheel bearing. just try the tie rod see if it helps (it's like $22).<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by antivic »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I find it very hard to believe that you hit a curb hard enough to somehow break a rotor in half, bend and break a bunch of other stuff and you didn't bend a rim.</TD></TR></TABLE> ...i agree. The only reason i ever had to replace the tie rod is because it had to much play and they couldn't align it properly. good luck
