BOV and waste gate.....the same??
I have been doing some research so I can turbo a b18c1 and when I search for a BOV I get BOV and wastegates. are they the same and if not what does the BOV do, I know the wastegate just senses the psi and then lets some exhaust go by if the psi is to high but what about the BOV? Sorry about the nb question but I am new to the boost. Help is always appreciated
no they are not the same. A BOV lets the pressure escape from the charge pipe once the throttle body is closed. A Wastegate opens When the set PSI is reached.
A wastegate controls how much boost you make.
A blow off valve sits upstream of the turbo (between the turbo and the throttle body) and opens based on the throttle body closing releasing the pillar of compressed air in the charge piping into the atmosphere.

A boost controler. Also some turbo's stock wastegate can only go down and hight so many psi.
