Icon5 Which first, set idle or set ignition timing?

Relaced both IAC and distributor/cap/rotor. Runs okay however, both idle and ignition timing are out of spec, MPG is not optimal, slight lack of power, and it occasionally throws a p0505 code - the throttle gets jerky and somewhat unresponsive, until engine is restarted. Once restarted, all is well until it inevitably happens again. Which should I set first? Idle, or IGN timing? To my understanding, each one needs to be set correctly to read the other. Please help me understand this, lol.
