With the help of a Dremel, pocket knife and some elbow grease you can fit a set of 6 1/2in alpine speakers into your (2000 civic lx sedan) door without removing the door panel. And have the stock covers go back on.
Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
This weekend I replaced the clutch, flywheel and rear main seal in my 95 coupe. There was oil everywhere in there so I got that rear main replaced, cleaned everything up and installed the new exedy clutch, pressure plate, oem flywheel and clutch release bearing. It was a nightmare as the two bolts that attach the transmission to the rear mount took me an hour to get out using a combination of a breaker bar and an impact. One of them even tore some threads out with it.

I gave mine a little Seafoam action yesterday. Besides blasting the carbon out of the engine and cleaning the puddles of oil out of the intake manifold, this stuff doubles as an annoying neighor repellent and an exhaust leak find-er! Cat flange is leaking, gaaay.
I hate being a semi-responsible adult sometimes. On friday, I decided that I was going to pull the trigger on the Progress coilover/sway bar/brace kit. I hovered the mouse over "Buy it Now" for about 15 minutes and panicked the whole time. I ended up backing out. Do I really need to spend over a grand (total) on suspension work for a car thats barely worth 2k? I decided to refinish the SI wheels, get some new tires and look into fixing the rust before I start really modding.
Oh, yesterday I also cleaned the throttle body, stuffed a rag down into the intake manifold before and after Seafoam-ing to pick up any oil or debris that was left. I removed the valve cover and checked the valve clearance. Surpisingly, all were spot on. The previous owner told me that the timing belt was done at 100k but couldn't gaurantee that. Also surprisingly, the belt looks brand new and is a Honda OEM belt. I painted the valve cover while it was off, but ran out of time because the rain moved it. I didn't have time to do a really good job on the painting. Oh well, all good now.

It definitely made a difference in the intake manifold! I can't comment on how clean the pistons are, though. Mine doesn't really seem to burn much oil, luckily (125k miles).

Haha yeah, given the current "climate" I've had to really think about whether I actually need something right now. If I do more detailing work I'll go ahead and pull the trigger. She needs more low, as you can see from the photo!

I did. I forget exactly what kind of bush it is, but its very similar to a crape myrtle. You have to cut them down like that or they'll take the **** over haha.

Also, I'd like to apologize for the state of my front yard. I used to take pride in my lawncare abilities, but that all changed when we ended up with two dogs. Their invisible fence ends about halfway across the yard and they battle constantly. So no grass. *******.

brave..

ok...
so you criticize someone for letting you know your car roll away with your kids trying to stop it. That person could have been at the store door when he saw it. Or may not see your kids in or around it. Yet you call that person names.
hmmmm..
oh wait, it's somebody else's responsibility. Not yours. That "retard" should've ran after and stop YOUR car because of your negligent. That "retard" should've fix YOUR mistake.
I bet you would feel wonderful if one of your kid got hurt by your car, and no one came in to tell you that your car is rolling away. Oh wait, one of your boy DID try to stop it, with his foot. You are lucky the car did not do more harm or injure the little guy.
left a 5 and 7 yrs old boys unattended, told them not to play with ebrake. Hmmmm.. surely they will listen, after all, they are boys..
Good job, dad. You got my vote..kudos man..
He's from California. That's a whole different world over there.
Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
LOL that header I just got on blew apart on the highway Monday. I'm guessing the long bolts that hold the lower to the upper backed out, and fell out, or perhaps even sheared off. So as I downshifted to give a Mustang 5.0 the business my car got LOUD haha.
I could not get the slip joint back on under my car on jackstands, so I pulled the upper off the head and slipped it back over outside of the car just to make sure no tubes were bent/misaligned. I'm going to the hardware store to get grade 8 stainless long bolts, shouldered nuts, and nylock nuts to double nut those *******. This time if I lose them I'll know it's from them breaking haha

That may be. California or not, when you put kids in harm's way due to your negligent, it is unacceptable. Then blame someone else for your problem, it is infuriating.
Anyway,
I think the rear main seal on my 98lx a/t is worn out. Leaking small drop on the garage floor. Dont know how i feel about dropping the tranny. Never did it on an Auto tranny before, so im scratching my head. Reading and researching it though. I have the FSM in front of me. Just don't feel up to the task.
Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
Yeah, caused i replaced the distributor o ring and oil pan gasket already. So that ruled out. Valve cover gasket is also new, couldnt be that. Cant think of any other place.
car got 168k on it. Im sure it's bout time.
suggestions???
Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
I'll have to check the inspection plate again to see. But its been raining all week here. Another add to the to do list once sun comes out, if it will.
i really dont want to redo the OP again. What a pain.
Ive done the rear main seal on my old b18 gsr before by myself. It sux bad doing it by myself but got it done. Clutch and flywheel, T.O. bearing, flywheel pilot bearing. All in one job. But im not too sure bout this Auto tranny with the torque plate.
Was reading that you need to remove the 10mm bolts that you can see once you pop the inspection plate off. To do that you need to also rotate the crank to get to all of them. Is that the torque plate or flywheel or something?
I guess you are supposed to remove the tranny with the torque converter as one piece. So the flywheel is bolt to the torque converter. Remove inspection plate will expose the bolts that hold it together. Remove bolts exposed, then turn the crank to reveal others bolts. Then that should free the torque converter from the flywheel. THEN the tranny can be unbolted.. sounds right?
Im still reading up on it.
Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
Got my springs and struts replaced over the weekend. OEM --> Progress CSII with 300F/350R (IIRC).
Surprisingly (very surprisingly) all my rear suspension bolts spun right out. Slathered them up with anti-seize, slapped them back in, and put my new bolts away for a rainy day. The fronts we did without removing the fork bolt since it's seized on the driver side. All we did was separate the ball joint and use a pry-bar to pry the arm down and pull the damper from the fork. Super easy.
Because, I didn't need to replace my bushings, I didn't. They're still pretty bad but, I'll keep that job on the back burner.
As far as the springs/struts go, I still need to play with my ride height. I don't think I'm level and I may have too much pre-load on the springs, too. The car settles fast but there's a decent amount of initial bounce.
