Most impractical custom tool ever lol. Nah, I used the screwdriver to hold the flywheel in place while I broke loose the flywheel studs. 90ft lb was apparently enough to do that to the driver.
The discoloration is definitely the result of an exhaust leak. There were 3(?) studs/bolts missing from the manifold when I picked it up, and the manifold gasket was split/cracked. I'll be replacing all the studs with slightly extended ARP hardware, and re tapping the threads if needed.
Edit: Side note, I'll once again be replacing the tail lights. The housing has split on both. Cheap eBay parts don't always work out, obviously, but these were the color combinations that I wanted.
I replaced the headlights from those clear crystal ones to the Spec-D smoked, and the fitment/design of the Spec-D was MUCH better than the first random set I had off eBay. I'll do the same with the tail lights.

Pulled the head today. Besides some incredibly nasty **** in the water jackets and one toasty/crusty looking valve, everything looks very good. Engine was definitely running pig rich, has some aftermarket injectors I haven't been able to identify yet but much bigger than OEM, and I'm positive this engine wasn't even close to tuned right.
Cylinder walls, pistons, cams, all look very good. No stripped threads anywhere on the head/block which was what was most important to me. I'm not sure if the head/block have been decked before, but I'll get that checked at the machine shop. Also still planning on boring out the walls to 81.25mm just for the sake of a completely fresh seal for new pistons.

So, flip-flopping my mind for quite literally the thousandth time throughout this build.
I'm sold on the B16 engine + 98+ Spec ITR transmission. Debating a small turbo setup GTX2860R versus a Procharger C-1a kit.
I've heard a lot about Procharger reliability but am very worried I would immediately run into belt slip issues:
4 rib ~3in supercharger pulley & belt
9.5K RPM Crank RPM
83K RPM on the impeller (which is 3K RPM over the rated maximum).
Retaining AC/PS
That's for about 11-12PSI that would get me around 350WHP. I'm attracted to the idea of a Procharger for the ease of installation and supposed reliability but there's almost no documentation I have to reference on some of these questions. A 4 rib system at that RPM, running the SC right in the face of it's impeller limits just seems incredibly risky to me...
350WHP on the turbo is a no brainer. Boost threshold/lag would likely be minimal even on the 1.6L with that small turbo, and it would make more power throughout 95% of the curve. Also easier to make more power later if desired.
/rambling. I'm sure I'll change my mind at least 5x times more before committing to either system. Luckily the longblock needs to be built with the same internals regardless of turbo/SC, so I don't need to really decide until the NA break in period is already done.

I have heard good things about Procharger as well, but I would be leery of taking it over max rated RPM.
I would love to keep PS & AC and make >300hp...

The more I thought about it the more it seemed like a risky idea for minimal return. The turbo system I have in mind would be an easy install, have a lot more market support, and offer more scalability at a cheaper price. Can't really justify the PC with those considerations.
AC kit will also retain AC/PS and I have plans to minimize Texas heat soak.
