RBR has the biggest qualifying gap in years (at a circuit they historically do terrible at) without a major component of this year's upgrades, one of the fastest drivers in the field, and the car seems to be reliable.

Everyone else is fighting for 2nd place at this point.

They may have the potential but they arent guaranteed to always win. The first thing is acidents. We saw a good share of this from both drivers last year. The other thing that is worrying is the fact that the race packages and upgrades happen all year long and maybe one of the other teams may improve with those developments but yeah youre right, it seems like everyone will be competing for second.

Massa was the last guy to come in really late on low fuel load= fast lap. Button should have took him out early when he was holding him up and blocking like a dbag. Funny though Button still beat him with the drive through penalty.

It was interesting that webber couldn't really keep up also, at least not with Vettel. I think it because all good drivers are born on July 3rd(we share bdays) hahaha.

Webber screwed by his own team.
German team make their pretty boy German driver look good.
All the top F1 teams do it.
F1 is so up themselves.

Nah not true. Its hard to say without looking at the data but maybe webbers driving style makes the car be setup in a way that the tires wear faster. Young drivers also have a better reaction time IMO so maybe his turns add up. .850 or whatever it was during qualifying is quite a gap and vettel even locked up in the semi last turn. I dont think hes lacking that much skill, the tires were also in the same shape so it could just be in the setup. We'll have to wait and see!

Not for lack of pace - Vettel has DNF'd the last 2 seasons there while in a podium position.

nope you're wrong, might as well call it now RB takes the Constructor's and Vettel takes the drivers LOL. Just like how the McLaren's were going to be crap for the first 1/2 of the year and always trying to catch up to Ferrari and Mercedes....

Any of the top teams could have a package in 2 weeks that matches or is better than the Red Bulls. There's a long way to go yet.

We will see how things play out at the next couple of races... I still don't believe that the RBR have that big of an advantage. In F1 people talk way to much to make things seem bigger then they are!

RBR does have a fast car but I don't think Ferrari or McLaren are that far off the pace!

True. I worded that poorly because I wanted to point out how poorly they typically do at Australia but Vettel's pole was not unusual.

Good to see at least someone is on the same page.

If Red Bull had something that could be pointed to as a cause of their major difference in pace, maybe. The RB7 seems to just be a clean design that works well though and it's going to be very tough for other teams to make up that difference in pace.

Last year the gap was 2 tenths between Vettel (P1) and Alonso (P3) at Australia. This year it's 4x that AND RBR has a major upgrade on the shelf. I was trolling with the "the season is over" comments but the gap in performance is significant.

Historically, it's not usual for one team to have a huge performance advantage in the 1st race or 2. I think it was in '98 where both McLarens lapped the field - by season's end Ferrari were right there fighting for the title. Give it a few races, and the other teams will catch up and take the fight to RBR.

Well that was never going to happen. I think it would have been cool to see him at Renault. Too bad we never got to see him vs Schumacher in the same Ferrari (although now I think Kimi would have whipped the floor with him)

One can only hope he comes back to F1 in 2012 and this year was just to fill some time.
