More info on the Pirelli tires!

Colour-coded tyre compounds for 2011

Red tyre markings will used on the super-soft compound © Pirelli

Pirelli is planning to colour code its various tyre compounds this season to help spectators understand the teams' strategy.
In 2007 the FIA ordered Bridgestone to differentiate between its 'hard' and 'soft' options at races and the Japanese manufacturer obliged by painting a white stripe in one of the grooves. When slicks returned in 2009 the soft Bridgestones featured a green circle on the sidewall, but it was not always obvious on TV pictures.

Stories from Italy suggest that Pirelli will go one step further and change the colour of the writing on the tyre wall for each compound. The super-soft will reportedly be red, the soft will be white, the medium blue and the hard yellow. Sidewall lettering on the full wet tyre will be yellow and on the intermediates red.
It has also emerged that - so no drivers or teams are favoured - the FIA will distribute Pirelli's tyres to the teams after randomly shuffling the code numbers at grands prix.

You don't need copy pasta from James Allen to start off a thread. We all know WTF happened last year.

The real question is - will this years crop of H-T F1 heads still remain faithful to Alonso? As usual, I will be pulling for Michael Schumacher. Hopefully Brawn and Merc can give him a car capable of winning this year.

Thanks for starting this off Dave.

That and a teammate that won't embarrass him by showing the true pace of the car.

Has Speed confirmed they'll broadcast in HD yet?

Schumacher was holding back. He didn't want to get everyone's hopes up unless the title was possible.

You're very welcome!

I'm a huge Schumacher fan and I am hoping to see him win at least one race this year! But I am a Ferrari fan at hearth so the Schumacher I know doesn't exist anymore lol... So Ferrari FTW!

Thanks for starting the F1 thread, Dave. . We've been waiting and waiting...

Everyone: as per previous F1 threads, non-f1 posts (ie pics of toy corolla) will be deleted.

Exactly - couldn't agree more. It's was a nice starting off point but not necessary.

I think there was only one devoted "Caterpillars can do no wrong" H-Ter on last years thread. I think the tide will swing decidedly towards Vettel and Schumacher...

So it looks a possible reason for why Rosberg was a little faster then Schumacher was because he wasn't spending enough time in the simulator!

Report says that he gets motion sick... he has experienced this since he has that motorcycle accident a couple of years ago!

I still don't understand how they will be starting the season with 2 lotus teams? They have so much time till the beginning of the season that they can't have this issue solved...

It's going to court. It will be settled before the season starts, but there probably will still be 2 Lotus teams.

ya I know it will be sorted before the season but I think that it's dragging a little... Also why would you want 2 teams with the same name? Honestly makes no sense! I hope the courts give the rights to the Lotus name to Lotus the car company...

I must be the only one that thinks the Lotus-Renault looks hideous as shyte. They could have done better, but those colors with those lines just don't go together on a car shaped like the current F1 car. Sorry. lol
