Default Ground Control question

I jacked up the car today and noticed that on the driver front side the black rubber piece is torn and wasn't seated correctly evidently when it was installed. Has anyone ever had this happen? It is only a circular rubber piece at the top of the spring that they provide to you in the kit. The kit only comes with the threaded body, spring height adjuster, and that black rubber peice that goes on top like i said. The black rubber piece is the one that is torn. It sits right below the top hat if i remember correctly.

edit: here are some pics to help illustrate what i am talking about.

This picture is what it should look like. this is the passenger front. perfect condition

I had that problem with my right front one. I'd imagine that it would have to be a problem at install time since the front springs never become unseated (even at full droop). I've never had problem on the where it is possible for the springs to become unseated during full droop. I never gave it much thought. I just replaced the part ($5 from GC) and went on my way...

Maybe its related to the weight of the car up front? not sure... been there and done that tho.

EDIT : Now that you posted pictures I can see that yours ripped in the same manner that mine did.

I just got off the phone with Dale @ Ground Control and he said as long as i have polyurethane (i guess that is what the rubbery piece is made of) molded together between the spring and the body of the car then i am fine. I think i am gonna have to pull the spring/shock out and see how ripped it really is. Looks bad from the pictures doesn't it? But yeah he said it is like $5 to replace.

I'd order the part so when you decide to pull the shock spring off to look at it... you can just replace it. Just my thoughts on the subject.

You'd think they put somethin together that holds up a little better.

Mine are the same way. They will probably need to be replaced next season.

yeah i pulled that one off today and replaced it. The part arrived yesterday. Simple repair. I actually forgot in the directions to pull the stock unit out and use ONLY the GC supplied polyurethane rubber piece just under the top hat of the assembly. Oh well live and learn. I had to go back on 2 others shocks and take them aparts and pull out the stock piece along with the GC and just re-use the GC. I wonder if this affects by corner scaling that i paid for a couple of months ago?
