Don't stick stuff in your head that doesn't belong there
Bonehead move of the week.
So, since the big smoking issue I had at PR a week ago, I brought the car to a friends shop for a leak-down test. We probably didn't need to do it since compression was 210 across the board, but since it couldn't hurt..... (famous last words).
We thought it was a pretty cool idea to use a long LED light probe and stick it down the spark plug hole to see when we were at TDC. It sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that the intake valves grab the probe and break off the tip when they close leaving glass and metal element chunks in the cylinder. No compression in #4 at all. Super!
After trying to suck everything out with small vacume attachments and blowing it out with compression, we finally pulled the head to find a little copper shard wedged between the valve and the seat. Luckily, no visible damage.
So, I make a trip to Honda this afternoon for a new head gasket and other bits, put the head back on tonight and race tomorrow.

I forgot to mention the cool stuff though.
1. I got to see all the neat work Stormpower did to the new race motor.
2. Nash let me drive his car home last night, and to work this morning.
3. I just got back from taking "the data-entry girl" for a ride in Nash's car. She kept saying, "oh my god!" Sorry Nash, I think I may have hit 8k once with her in the car

Well, its probably not an act of strict kashrut but usually you leave out the vowels.

hmmm... so many great ways that we could re-arrange the words in those sentences to make this story a whole helluva lot better

One way to rearrange the words....
Well, you either 'hit it' or you didn't.
"It" being "8K with her in the car", obviously.
