Default Del Sol help

So we are looking for a little help.

We run a 95 Del Sol DOHC VTEC car. Running in a pretty open class. Basicly as long as the cage dosnt attach to the rear suspention and dose not pass the firewall your good. lol. GT-3.

Anyway, when the car owner bought the car it was intended as a all purpose car. Roadrace, rally and Targe Newfoundland. Dosnt do any of them great, just okay. So he started preping the car he decided to not rally but maybe targa newfoundland. Since then targa was droped.

So its looking like a pure roadrace car. Stock Del Sol trans with 4.9 final drive and LSD. motors Basicly stock, Header with a trush muffler and drop pipe at rear axle. Ajustable fuel presure regulator and MSD Billit distrubutor. poly bushing front to back, Some sort of fullbody coilover with custom spring rates. stock front bar, 19MM rear bar. Stock brakes with Goodridge lines.

Car has a CARS legal cage, (legal for all rallys) But more tubing then required for roadracing. We removed the power windows last year, all the targa roof bracket from the trunk and other ramdom peaces. Car curenty weights 2345LBS.

So the car owner has been talking about selling the car and getting something new. He is thinking eather EG civic HB (same as the car i Autocross) or a DC Integra. I said if we switch get the civic as its going to be the lightest. But my real question is it worth it?
He wants a faster car, more power less weight. I am would like to know how light i can make a del sol. Could i get it down to 2000LBS? and what all would i need to cut out and tear apart to get there? Then if he wants more power i was leaning towards a decent LS/VTEC set-up. close to 200WHP and 160LB-TQ. What would it cost and would a second gen Type R motor be equal money wise to get the same power numbers.

Just tring to figure out if he should sell the car and buy a car more preped.
Would it be cheaper and would a EG or DC even be a better?

Ill try and post some picture this week as a few people have asked for them to see how the cage is built. And maybe give a better idea what we are working with. Its a great little car, just tring to sort things out. We plan on running it for the full season and if he selling putting it up for sale later in the season and seeing what people think.

Thanks in advance for any help.
