Default Glossing headlights and taillights

I am planning on painting my car soon and was wondering if you could apply the clear coat to the headlights and taillights as well?
Thanks
Eli

Sure you can. Some people will tell you to just sand it and buff it out, but you can also sand it and clear coat it. If you decide to sand and paint, (I've done it before.) I would sand it with something like 400 then 600, both wet, then just spray away.

That looks freakin great!

Does it hold up good over a period of time?

yes, yes it does. But it really helps to use good quality material. I use only Dupont cromaclear, or cromapremier clearcoat, which is a rather expensive material, but worth every penny. They have u.v additive agents that shield against clearcoat deterioration. Unlike alot of the other cheap brands that will start to crack, yellow, fade and peel after a certian amount of time exposed to the sun. This clear is warrantied from dupont against any of that, you pay for it, but for the way it sprays, how it shines and how long its guaranteed to last, its worth it.

So would that be a good way to keep the new plastic headlights on these cars from fading/yellowing? Spray them with a high quality clear before they get a chance to do that?

yes. alot of the plastic headlights have a coating on them from the factory that ends up fading and turning yellow and hazy eventually. i sand that crap off than clear it.
