Default Wanting to get rid of swirls

Hey,

Well i have some really bad swirl marks all over the car, and I don't particularly want to cut the clear any further with scratch/swirl removers. I was wondering if there is a product that will fill the marks in the clear to prevent it from refracting in the light? The paint looks fine during the day, but at night when headlights or streelamps reflect off the car it looks terrible.

Thanks for any help.

Steve.

You will have to use a swirl remover of some sort to get them out completely. Wax will probably hide them, depending on how bad they are, but there is no way to fill them permanently without literally adding clear coat.

You can use wax but it will just hide it. Most likely the first time you wash it it will look similar to how it does now. The amount of clear that a polish takes off is really minuscule, so I would do that and then use a good wax to protect it. I wouldn't recommend doing a light polish more than twice a year, but you shouldn't really need to if you keep up with it. And be very careful to use clean cloths every time you touch the car.

No problem, good luck!

Just had another thought too...do you take your car through car washes? If so, I would stop that, because it will make swirls happen reaaal quick.

Pictures of this? so i can see how bad it is

Depending on how severe it is It may be fixable w/o a new clear coat

I seriously doubt it is that bad....I was just using an extreme example to show that there is really no way to "fill" the swirls permanently w/o more clear.

It looks like it was polished with steal wool.

It's a shame, it looks great without direct lights on it.

Do alot of reading on Autopia and you'll learn alot and get a real good idea on what you'll need to do.
