Default A great toyota service center. $700 for a waterpump! Crazy!

Alright HT people my gf. feels like she is getting overcharged for her 2001 Rav 4 for a water pump job. She was charged 700 for the water pump and 500 to re machine the rotors. Does that sound right to you? Do you guys know of a better service place to take her car to in the Santa Clara/Cupertino area?

She doesn't mind spending for her car but doesn't want to get taken advantage of. Comments or suggestions ?

Thank You.

Yaa I figured. I just have a feeling that they were taking advantage of her b/c they said the water was leaking from her engine but she always has her A/C on so I assumed it was coming from that.

Well the reason I ask is because I don't live in the area myself. I live 140 miles away in the Central Valley. I was wondering if anyone knew(who lives in the area), by personal experience or word of mouth, a good Toyota service shop in the area. That's why I posted in the nor cal thread. And I assume a large majority of ppl on this part of HT live in and around the south bay.

Well update. I just told her to go back to the dealership. Since I can neither confirm or deny if it was really the water pump, we just have to trust the mechanics there. Better to be safe then sorry. And her family has the cabbage, so money isn't that big of a deal.

Thanks anyway HT

+1 Couldn't you just get new OEM or aftermarket ones for less than that price? Crazy!
