projectors
Depends on the type of projector.
What kind of projector are you thinking of buying?
An ebay aftermarket housing that has projectors? tyc housings with projectors? OEM hid projectors?
The ebay ones are generally low quality, but are great for an HID retrofit.
The reason why the ebay ones suck, is that they use a H3 bulb for the low beam, this bulb is generally used for foglights...since these already suck as low beams, don't think they will be better with a PNP hid kit.
TYC housings use nicer projectors, and actually do well...but they cannot handle an HID bulb, because the lighting pattern is not even, and there are hotspots.
OEM HID projectors, dont come in a housing that fits your car, unless your car has an OEM HID projector option, mazda3, 6, bmw, etc..

Actually, most Sonar brand projectors use H1's for the projector, which isn't bad but it isn't good either. The housings are great for retrofits because most of the work is done already for you.
Some OEM HID projectors to check out are the TL's, TSX, FX35, FX45, G35, E46, S2000's, etc.
Do not get halogen projectors and put HID's in them...they will work fine but the output won't be anything near of that of a real oem HID projector.

Valeo H7 projectors are probably the one exception to the rule. By putting a simple machined aluminum adapter ring onto an otherwise stock D2S HID bulb, you can get VERY good results with HID in a Valeo H7 halogen projector.
We did this on my buddy's old Audi A4 which came stock with Valeo H7 projectors, and the results were surprisingly very good.
Besides not needing to do a retrofit, the best part was that OEM D2S bulbs could be used instead of needing to buy re-based HID bulbs as part of a PnP kit with proprietary connectors. Everything fit and worked like OEM.
*edit* we took the regular H7 bulb, and lined up the mounting flange next to the mounting surface of the D2S bulb WITH the adapter ring in place, and the focal points were pretty much exactly aligned.
