new to k world. best boltons combo
im a long time b series fan but new to k series
i just got a 2004 tsx stock everything 6 speed
not planning to do any extensive internal work just boltons
after some light search it seems like rbc manifold and the newer 066-08 tsx cams are popular upgrades
is there a popular combination of boltons that is proven to work best on stock motor?
i plan to get the following:
intake manifold
bigger throttle body
injectors
short ram
headers
cams
and dyno tune of course
thats about it
maybe someone can link me to a thread

rbc or skunk 2 Intake mani
74mm skunk2 alpha throttle body
410 cc rdx injectors or maybe ID750s
do yourself a favor and get a nice 3-3.5 inch intake that places the filter in a colder place than the engine bay
skunk 2 alpha header if budget, ASP if you got money
cartel DIC cams make good power without having to change valve springs, but they cost $1k, go with 06-08 tsx cams if you want a 5 whp bump for the cheap
flash pro and a competent tuner and youre all set
edit: 3inch exhaust would also help

Re: new to k world. best boltons combo
what kind of power will i be looking at with those? rough estimate?
and what about the RRC and RBB that i see tested on k20a from superstreet shootout?
which one would be better for k24?

240-250 dynojet. RBC would prob be better. RRC is better suited to 2.0 liter motors that carry power above 8500. Your engine should peak around 76-7800. Plus, RRCs are expensive. For the price of an RRC you would be better off getting an S2 ultra street.

Re: new to k world. best boltons combo
skunk2 alpha or PLM will be fine. j35 throttle bodies are 68 mm - too small for a k24 in my opinion. j37 is 80mm inlet/70mm outlet and would be better suited for a 2.4 liter. i know you will need an adapter to use either one, but i dont have personal experience with j series TB's, maybe someone else can chime in and help you with that aspect of your build.

Re: new to k world. best boltons combo
would it make more sense to boost the stock motor without changing anything?
i was a big fan of NA b series always but this being more of a daily i dont want a loud exhaust anymore like my b series had
how good is the factory exhaust on these things?

Re: new to k world. best boltons combo
my 04 k24a made like 195/175whp with just some basic bolt ons in my rsx.
short ram with a velocity stack and custom heat shield
plm header
2.5" magnaflow high flow 200 cell cat
invidia q300
kpro tune
. this is still with the rbb, which i wanted for the low end tq its my daily driver. the motor is at 155+ wtq by 2500 rpm. tq starts to fall around 6400 and power flattens out above 7000 but its great around town. I would imagine with a mid 60mm tb and different im it would pick up another 10-15 hp and tq.
the q300 is a quiet *** exhaust for its size on an all motor setup. id say its just a tick quieter than the 2.5" catback and vibrant muffler i had on my old b series em1 but the q300 is a 2.75" . I do highly recommend the magnaflow cat, it helps eliminate the rasp (i have 0 rasp) and stops the occasional exhaust smell that gets annoying with the windows down.
