What swap would be better..
I have an 89' crx dx and I want to do a motor swap in it.. Whatever engine I put into it im going to rebuild it with low compression pistions and crower rods.. Also am going to get the block resleeved by darton.. I want to be able to run one of the new AEM EMS ecu's.. I hear of alot of people getting the b16a motor and notching the block and going with an LS crank to make it a 1.8L.. Would this be a good choise or should I go with a B18C1 gsr motor.. I know ill have to convert everything over to obd1 to run the aem ecu.. Let me know your thoughts.. This car will also mostly be for track only and im not on a timeframe.. I dont care how long it takes or how much it costs.. Let me know..

i agree with poison. Why get a b16 to make it a 1.8 when the b18c is that already. You could get the b18 bottom end and redo a b16 head and use them, kinda a good setup.

Hmmm.. How about using a crv B20 block.. They are alot cheaper and parts from other B series will work on it.. Even if I get a B18C im going to use a B16 head since it flows alot better so why not get the B20 for alot less money and still use the B16 head on it.. Let me know your thoughts on this..

If your going all out like that you should consider buying the cheapest block possible then work up from there. Your in for a lot of work so good luck.

Re: What swap would be better.. (Maximus)
I want to stick with a B series motor since all my friends know a good amount about them and also have tons of parts for them.. The B20B is the cheapest block that I can find so far.. I really only need the short block, Actually I only need the block and the crank since im going with aftermarket pistons and rods.. I would really like to get a B18C block and crank but I cant find it anywhere for a good price..
What about using a B16 block and getting a B18 LS crank to make it a 1.8.. I heard something about the machine shop would have to notch the block for the rods.. Any thoughts on this one..

If it were me, I would go with a B18C1 mainly because I'm partial to them and I'd also go with the new HASport EF hydro kit. That way you could buy a complete B18C1 swap and retain the hydro tranny. I prefer Hondata over the AEM EMS but either way, I'd convert to OBD1.
There's many routes you can take and it all comes down to the $ you have to spend on what goals you have for the car. Any built B series motor will haul some **** in your CRX. I built a 91 CRX DX with a 96 B18B1 and 92 GS YS1 cable tranny for my fiance and although it might not be a VTEC motor, it makes good power around town.

Go with a B18c1. I just swapped in a B16a and I'm kind of disappointed with the power. But a turbo and later built a 2.0L will solve that problem.
