What parts can i use from a b16 long block in a ls vtec?
long block.. ummm i guess everything underneath the head..
what can i use, and what should i use from this block in the ls/vtec?
if i should not use the stuff from the b16 block.. what do you guys recommend using?
by the way.. whats the avg price for a b16 bottom end ... around 3xxxx miles... wiht pistons etc... in fairly good condition...

well everything on your b16 block should fit an ls block.. i recomend using a type r oil pump, and a type r crank pulley.. but if you want to save some cash you can use the b16 oil pump and crank pulley.. of course you need an ls block, your going to use the ls rods and crank. you can also use the b16 pistons and water pump. every thing switches over.

I wouldn’t reuse anything from the B16 block when doing the LS/V conversion. Getting a new oil pump for the LS block is critical. And as far as dropping in the B16 piston in the LS block, I’d just get new pistons and rings and hone the ls block to fit them. IF you go half *** on that LS block, you’ll regret it.
So overall, there isn’t anything really that you can use from that block. B16 blocks are so abundant. No one wants them. So I see them goin from $50-100.
I say build it right so you don’t have to worry about it later.

If going LS/Vtec it's better to go all the way with new parts but here are some things that you "could" reuse...........
~B16A oil pump but you should just get a new ITR pump instead. (newer B series pumps are all the same B20, ITR, GSR, etc)
~B16A water pump but not the B16A timing belt, these should be bought new also, why skimp? (LS water pump with LS belt, GSR pump with GSR belt, respectivly)
~You could use the B16A pistons, but SIRII and CTR pistons will yeild higher compression ratios.
~You can use the oil pan, and pick-up tube from the B16A to increase your oil capacity from the B18B engine. Probably a good idea.
~The B16A flywheel is probably lighter than the B18B, you will have to verify that though.
Hope this helps some.

if you need to save cash, a low Ks b16a may be a good parts supply for your needs...
