Re: vtec not coming on?? (hybrider93)
yup, maybe because of the stock exhaust i cant feel the vtec coming on because i can still rev to 8000. but it feels like a non vtec

haha am i the vtec expert now?
glad to help.
ok. step 1. get a wire (any wire) touch it to the battery pos. terminal then touch it to the 1 pin connector on the vtec solenoid. you should hear a noticable click. that means the solenoid is GOOD. do that then get back to me
edit: you WILL hear vtec no matter what intake.exhaust you have on any b series motor.

Re: vtec not coming on?? (KAMiN)
nevermind my vtec does come on. its just that i can barely hear it because of the open air box. my stock muffler is too restrictive! imma slap on my straight pipe then ill hear my vtec for sure!

you can barley hear it in a b16?
tell me what your rpm range is like
what happens when
because it should be LOUD when it comes on.
does it kick when it turns on? like POWER?

if your unsure its NOT working
i did the same thing
i tried to trick myself that it was working. hah.
lemme guess it makes a high pitched whine at 7000? and a tingy sound?
go check your solenoid. (touch a wire to the battery pos. terminal and the 1pin cnnector on the solenoid (gray plug)) make sure you touch it to the solenoid not the wire side.

is your oilpan dented?
also: does your oil light comes on when the car is cold? (for more than a couple seconds)

ok i see alot of people are having vtec issues.
here are the variables for vtec to work
1)oil level (self explainitory)
2)oil PRESSURE, oil light comes on for more than 1-2 seconds when car starts
3)spedometer MUST work
4)ECU issues. ive seen it happen
5)working solenoid, check with battery test listed above, if it works pull solenoid and clean filter screen
everyone can im me if they are online and having problems. i now get HT at work and theres nothing better to do so ill troubleshoot cars WHILE i troubleshoot windows (job)

nothing popped up on your screen from me?
here ill put it in here
so your vtec only works when the car is fully warm? pound out your oilpan ASAP!!! that what was causing mine not to come on. the oil light should come on for about 1 second when the car is started if it comes on longer than that you have a pressure issue. my oilpan was actually hitting the oil pickup causing a low pressure situation in the head. (no vtec.)

Re: vtec not coming on?? (mindtrix)
Has anyone considered the VTEC Spool Valve? I had an intermittent problem on my car and that's what it ended up being. It went for several months before the computer actually threw a code and I could figure out what the exact problem was.
