^Agreed. Not sure what a "VTEC" is, but depending on the car, if you have a VTEC engine, the VTEC engagement point may be barely noticeable if the engine is a stock single cam.

Re: how to test vtec???
If you just want to check the vtec solenoid itself, I'm pretty sure you can apply 9V from a small battery to the wire that runs to the solenoid. Pretty easy to rig up with any AA, AAA, 9V battery and some wire. If the solenoid works, the engine should engage vtec at idle, and will sound like it's about to die.
How much did you drive it? If it wasn't warm enough it might not have kicked in.

Re: how to test vtec???
ive pulled my ecu out and used a voltage meter (set it for 12v or 9v) probed the vtec wire to get a good contact and grounded the other wire to a bolt with a clip and took it for a drive when it hit vtec u could see the voltage jump on the meter. i have a single cam turbo it was very hard to hear to tell when vtec hit. usually u would have a CEL if vtec wasn't working.

Quick and dirty way to test: do a run from a dig to 70mph. Have a friend record the time (or use a pocket dyno that you can download to your smartphone). Now, unplug your VTEC solenoid and do the same run. Any difference? If not, VTEC is probably not engaging. If you're slower, the second time, VTEC was working.

VTEC will not throw you back into your seat. VTEC is not like a turbo. VTEC on a SOHC can be difficult to even hear.

Let's not try to make this thread an entire joke. The OP might be serious and really need help, even if it's only to be taught what VTEC really is.
Oh, and there is VTEC fluid. It's motor oil. If the engine oil is low a CEL can be thrown for VTEC not working properly.
