torqing down the crank pulley bolt..
i dont have the moroso pulley holder thing so i was wondering if there is any other way to torque the bolt down.. maybe putting a long extesion between 2 bolts on the other side of the crank. (no clutch/flywheel on yet). and also using it vice versa to tighten the flywheel/clutch bolts, put a rachet on the crank pulley and torque the flywheel/clutch bolts down.

heaps of ways, i tried the nylon rope in the top of one cylinder the other day nad it worked perfect.
or you can make your own "crank lock" from a strip of hard steel which attaches to one flywheel bolt hole and a gearbox mount bolt hole.
also, it might actually help to NOT put the crank pully on till the engine is in the car (it isa PITA sometimes...) {not that i know what you are doing...}

Re: torqing down the crank pulley bolt.. (tinkerbell)
the block is on an engine stand... no head on it. i figured i could use an impact and just keep at it.
after i use the impact, could i stick a wrench on the crank nut and hold it to tighten the clutch/flywheel. i might just invest in a crank pulley holder thing.

all you need is a 1in wide 2-3mm thick 12in long strip of hard steel with one 10mm hole in one end, and a 8mm hole in the other end.
attach one end to one of hte flywheel bolt holes and hte other to one of the gearbox mounting holes.
it will lock tight and you are set to go.

Re: torqing down the crank pulley bolt.. (tinkerbell)
tehn once you wnat to put hte flywheel on, you make a another hole about 5in along the steel strip and attach a pressure plate bolt to it on one of hte pressure plate mounting bolt holes.
this will hold the flywheel still whilst tightening the bolts.
there is not really enuf torque required for pressure palte bolts to need something to hold it still...

Hahaha Tinkerbell, you got it good.... I made one a long time ago, it's a 3/4" wide piece of aluminum about a foot long and an 1/8" thick... It works but it flexs a lot when you really have to reef down on that pulley bolt.... Maybe i'll make a steel one sometime.. hehe

I purchased a home made tool from one of the local guys at the university. The hex size in the crank pulley is 50mm. The guy used a 48mm nut and basically welded a box steel handle on it. Thing is really sweet and much beefier than the moroso unit.
