Thoughts of Vtec head on stock b18b block?
I will hopefully have my B16a2 head this next saturday, as well as a SI tranny(if I can find one). The head is all ready for LS/Vtec, and includes IM, Injectors, TB (everything from the head up). I am considering putting it on my stock block just for now until July when I rebuild my engine. What are your guy's thoughts on this? How much power would/should I make? And would it be safe to take the stock b18b bottom end to 8000 RPM?
Also for now I would just run a p28 w/Mugen chip, is that a good choice? After the rebuild, I will run Hondata.

Here are some lsvtec dyno chartshttp://www.importreview.com/d_1.8.html
I would not take the stock bottom end to 8k because it was not designed to go that high from Honda, and I am sure there is a reason for that.
The chipped p28 will be ok. That is what I will be running on my b20vtec
