Built B18B head on stock b18b block
I've got a stock complete b18b engine that I will be boosting over the winter. I see someone has a built head for a b18 for sale.
Crower 404 cams
supertech valve train
Valvejob/ported
AEM cam gears
BLOX intake mani
Blox FPR with modified oem fuel rail.
My question is, can I slap this head on the stock block or should do I need to do anything to the block in order for this head to mount and operate on the block.

It will work fine on a stock block. You're basically eliminating the most inefficient part about a straight LS engine... You'll still be power limited by the stock internals but you should be able to make more power with less boost when compared to a stock head.

My original plan was an LS Vtec with my B16 head, but this deal just came to me. Do you think the b18 head will be more efficient than doin an LS Vtec swap?

Check out Lightningteg's setup to see the comparisons and what he did. You'll then be able to determine that decision for yourself without asking.
Lightningteg's LS/V head
Lightningteg's LS Build 567whp
Read ALLLL of that.. then make your decision.

An LS head will never outperform a VTEC head. Between the different port geometry and flow plus much more aggressive cam profiles the VTEC head is simply better.
In the end a VTEC head will always make more power, just look at LightningTegs links above, but they also cost more. Budget is usually the deciding factor.

No it will not be more efficient than a VTEC head and the valve train design is **** compared to a VTEC head. I would take a stock VTEC head over a ported LS head any day.

I think everyones missing the "stock block" part. No matter what head is on it, you shouldnt rev it much higher than what a Stock LS is built for if you like your rod bolts.
