Swap D15B
I threw a rod in a my 91 civic HB (D15b1- manual tranny) and purchased a D15B swap for $350 (head & longblock only). I assumed(like an ***) that the D15B was really a D15B1 but realized only after the merchandise arrived that I purchased an engine origainally made for an automatic/VTEC.
At this point I have successfully installed the D15B as a non-VTEC w/ manual tranny. My goal at this point is to make this bitch into a VTEC.
- Is it possible to get 3-stage Solenoids (see link:http://asia.vtec.net/article/EK3Vi/), ECU, Cable Harness, fuel injection to make this engine into a woking VTEC in my 91 Civic HB.
From what I've read it seems as though the D15B VTEC was designed for EK3 Civic Ferio Vi Multimatic-(automatic tranny).
Any suggestions, recommendations, the car is otherwise mint, I'm not going to junk this goal/project.

Re: Swap D15B (masivmunky)
do you know if it is a 2 stage vtec or 3 stage. it is most likely a 2 stage like the one i just put in my crx. check behind the valve cover on the passenger side for the number of vtec solenoids. there is a 2 stage vtec that runs on the p08 ecu which is almost identical to the d16z6. hit me back up. i just finished mine the other day. let me know about the number of vtec solenoids or post a pic. and we will get you running vtec.
p.s. most people are stupid about the d15b vtec. they all think it is the 3 stage which is rarely sold in the U.S. most are the d16z6 type of motors with 128hp and 104 torque. i am the d15b vtec king. ask any questions and screw anybody that says you have a 3 stage unless you know for sure.

Re: Swap D15B (ebayseller1987)
The head doesn't even have the solenoids in it. There is a machined hole where the solenoids used to be. I currently have it blocked off so it runs normally. I'd like to get 3 stage solenoids to install if that will be a better choice performance wise as opposed to stage 2. As you can see I'm really starting from scratch here.
