Default supid question about lifting motor

Where should I place the hooks on a b series motor when lifting with an engine hoist?

Big bolts on the tranny or tranny mount and bolts on the drivers side mount. Add some nylon straps for safety

just did a swap for my friend's car and it is about to be completed. what we did was, we used a 2-2.5' chain and threaded one end of the chain on the back of the head, on the driver's side where there's an open threaded hole, by the timing belt, and the other end of the chain to the bracket above the tranny which is above the slave cylinder.

for the tranny side, we used a large bolt and nut and put that through the chain and had the nut keep the chain and bolt in place. we actually used the large bolt and nut from the front lower control arm that bolts the fork to it. and we used a bolt from the a/c bracket to thread on the back of the head.

try to center the chain to have the engine evenly balanced when pulling it out. but, it might lean more towards the tranny side since the chain would be longer going towards the tranny. hth

thats exactally how you are supposed to lift it

and to lift it level center the hoist at the end of the valve cover (on the left)

and remember, when installing an engine you need to drop the transmission in lower

That bracket on the trans is strong enough to hold all that weight? I know which bracket it is but I am just checking. It is the one on the top, just behind the clutch slave cylinder line bracket.
Can you post a pic of this mount point?
