Default Strong driverside vibrations.

I have an h22a eg and have a few questions. I bought the car with the swap already done.

When accelerating the whole car would shudder. I found out that it was the passenger axle would slightly pop out.

I heard that adjusting the snap ring on the passenger side axle should keep the axle from poping out.

I just started to loose motor oil, could this be caused by the axle poping out?

If the transmission seal is bad what would happen on a manual transmission?

I have a 92-95 civic helms manual, it seems like it is quite a lot of work to remove the axle, is there an easier way to get to the snap ring other than going through all the things as stated in the helms manual?

It seems like you must open your transmission to change the oil seal, is that true?

Do you know what axles you are using?

Check for oil around the enginebay/axle area to see where you are leaking from as well.

pictures would also help to find out what axle set up you are using.

I will try to take pictures. The car has oil underneath the whole car.

Any sign of the source it's coming from?

Remember with any car fluid, Gravity Sucks, meaning that where it is leaking from will be the highest point (where you see fluid) on the engine, did I explain that good?

Maybe I got myself into some kind of trouble by buying this car. The oil is kinda low. The brake fluid is half and the clutch fluid is full. It's kinda weird but I seems to be brake fluid but I just changed my slave and master cylinder about 3 weeks ago and it functioned fine. I will fill all the fluids and check which is leaking.

Problems suck and I hope that this is not serious because I may be out of a car.

I've also been smelling brake fluid while entering the car. I hope that I don't have to fix my axles and find a brake fluid leak.

so, you think that the brake fluid is leaking? when you use your brakes, the brake fluid does go down (slowly, very slowly). what color is the fluid?

Thanks for the help. The fluid is a clear-goldish fluid. It can't be the clutch because the container is still full. The brake fuild container is half but was never completely full. The oil is really low though. I think that I have read posts about axles causing oil leaks. I don't expect anyone to know my problem untill I give clear details but if there is a problem between axles and oil leaks, this is the problem. When I accelerate I feel like something is rubing or draging.

100% sure that it is engine oil. The axle binds whenever I accelerate. Does that mean that the axle is bad or did it just pop out?

They may be too long.

My axles are too long, and it's fine if you're SLOWLY accelerating, but if you punch it, it shudders the entire car.

Axles wouldn't cause your oil to be low. It would only leak from the transmission.

Your low oil is something else. Oil pan gasket? Mine's leaking.

Maybe the front balancer shaft is leaking? You should get the retainer to keep the seal from coming out.

Valve cover leaking at the back?

Look your whole engine over. Get underneath it and look as well.

What mount kit do you have? Or do you even know?

Problems suck....I'm still working on mine, and it's really discouraging.

But look on the bright side....we know we can have a NICE, problem free H22 EG....look at the guys here that have them with no axle problems, binding, whatever. It only gets better man, and with time we'll get it all figured out

It could have come out a bit, which would cause problems.

It probably didn't go bad...when they go bad, it's usually a joint problem...and you'd hear a 'clicking' sound.

Sorry for not knowing too much, I noticed that there was a little gap between the axle and the transmission. When I pop it back into place the problems temporary go away but it pops out again after driving for a bit. That would be the passenger side axle right next to the transmission. What should I do to keep it from poping out of the transmission?

Btw I have hasport mounts and have no idea what axles I have.

You probably have the stage 1 axles like I did.

Does the inner CV joint have any play with it? Mine had a little play but I contacted Frank at DSS and got a Level 1 axle with the correct measurements.

Verify that the inner CV joint shaft is 2 1/4" long. Mine was 2 1/8" before I got my replacement.

If it's not 2 1/4" then it will not lock in.
